Gov. Deval Patrick says he's planning to meet with the state's top insurers and health care providers as early as this week to press them to rein in costs.

Take a high unemployment rate, add a bad economy and you end up with owners turning their pets in to animal shelters. And since owner turn-ins are often at the top of the euthanasia list, this bodes poorly for Fido and Fluffy.
